Church Canopy

Church Canopy text notices

Church Canopy helps churches organise their teams and members. A church can send short text messages to members who choose to receive them. The texts are sent by Church Canopy on behalf of the member's church.

What the texts are

  • Schedule notices: when you are scheduled to serve
  • Rehearsal and practice reminders
  • Set-list and service-plan updates
  • Requests to confirm or decline a schedule
  • Announcements from your church

Message frequency varies. Msg & data rates may apply. Texts go only to mobile numbers in Canada and the USA.

How members opt in

Each member decides for themselves in their Church Canopy profile, under Church texts. They enter their mobile number and turn on the switch below. It is off by default and it is not required to use Church Canopy. Turning it on sends one text to that number asking the member to reply YES; texts start only after that reply, so nobody can sign up a number that isn't theirs. A church administrator can also record consent a member gives in person; the administrator's name and the date are kept with it.

This is how the opt-in looks in the app (a copy for reference; it does not sign you up):

Optional. You can use Church Canopy without it.

By turning this on, you agree to receive schedule reminders and church notices from Church Canopy on behalf of your church at the number provided. Message frequency varies. Msg & data rates may apply. Reply STOP to unsubscribe, HELP for help. Consent is not a condition of using Church Canopy. See our Privacy Policy and Terms.

How to stop

Reply STOP to any text, or turn the switch off in your profile. Reply START to receive texts again and HELP for help. More on the text help page.
